The city aqueduct

Back to Time Period
The city aqueduct

In the years AD 100-1 an aqueduct was built to supply the centre of the city with water. At the point at which this crossed the line of the old legionary fortress ditch it was carried on a bridge whose supporting timbers survived. It seems likely that the purpose of the aqueduct was to provide water for the baths.
