The demolition of St Nicholas Priory

The view looks down on the excavation of 1983. The robbed foundations of the tower at the west end of the church have been emptied, showing how thoroughly Henry VIII's commissioners organised the destruction of even the foundations of the priory after its dissolution in 1536.
