A pair of saucepans

A pair of saucepans

The two saucepans (paterae) were found encrusted together in a pit in Friernhay in 1981. They were deposited in the early second century but belong to a type used by soldiers at the time of the fortress, and it seems at least possible that they were in fact used initially in the fortress.
