Cowick Barton

Back to Time Period
Cowick Barton

Built towards the end of the 16th century, the house stands on or close to the site of Cowick Priory. Its symmetrical design, with a central porch and projecting wings forming a house of classic 'E' plan, was popular in country houses in Queen Elizabeth's reign. The drawing is by L.H. Reichel.
