Staircase at the Good Shepherd Hospital

The staircase, with its 'Wren' window and close-set balusters, shows what an important feature of display the staircase had become in the late 17th century. Good Shepherd Hospital was one of the larger houses built outside the South Gate in the generation after the Civil War; it dates to about 1670-80.
