Two cabassets

Back to Time Period
Two cabassets

Cabassets or 'pikemen's pots' were tall helmets made of two sheets of iron, typically with a narrow brim. Formerly these had inner linings of coarse textile, riveted to the rim, but only traces of these now survive, trapped around the rivets. They date to c.1600-20.
