View of the bath–house caldarium

The view looks down on the end wall of the caldarium (hot room) with the basement below floor level lined with red earthenware tiles. The central niche would probably have supported a sculpture; the two flanking apses (semi-circular recesses) would certainly have held labra: basins which would have been fed by hot water and supported on the tile pedestals below.
