A bowl used in the Roman fortress

This wheel-thrown bowl made of ‘gritty grey ware’ was found in a deposit in the legionary baths in Cathedral Close dating to c. AD 75. It is believed to have been made in a kiln close to the fortress, probably set up specifically to supply the legionary troops.
