Sandals (caligae)

Back to Time Period
Sandals (caligae)

These are replicas of the sandals (caligae) worn by the legionary soldiers. They were made from a single piece of leather wrapped around the foot and sewn at the heel. The sole was made from several layers of leather and finished with iron studs (hobnails) to provide strength and grip.
