Drawing of plasterwork ceiling at 170–1 Fore Street

The measured drawing records the fine ceiling on the first floor of 170-1 Fore Street, shortly before it was demolished in the early 1930s. It was an example of the 'enriched rib' type of ceiling introduced into Devon at the end of 16th century, with broad ribs enclosing foliage ornament. The ceiling dates to the early 17th century.
