The dial of the Matthew the Miller clock

Carved in Beer stone, this is the earliest surviving clock dial in Devon. The figures at its corners are Apollo (top left with his lyre), Ceres (bottom left with cornucopia) Mars (top right with helmet). These surrounded the revolving dial within. The dial was removed from St Mary Steps Church in 1980 because it was weathered.
