Musket shot from Hayes Barton

Musket shot from Hayes Barton

Among the traces of demolished buildings were found many musket shot, some flattened by impact upon the building. The precise positions of the shot were recorded, showing that many had been fired at the hall, others at the farm buildings in the courtyard. The shot are of lead, and would have been cast in moulds. Such ammunition could be made speedily; even the lead pipes supplying the city with drinking water were torn up for the purpose.
