In accordance with our responsibility under the Data Protection Act, you should be aware that the personal information you are giving will be held and may be passed to other services of the Council, so that you are provided with the best possible support. We will not pass your personal information to external individuals or organisations unless there is a legal obligation to do so. We will also not use your personal information for direct marketing purposes, unless we have specifically informed you that we will.
What information do we collect?
In some areas, we may ask you to register your name and email address. We will also collect information from you if you complete any other forms on our site or if you contact us with comments or specific requests. We will send you a copy of any completed form via e-mail for your records, using the address you have given us.
What do we use personal information for?
If you choose to complete any of our on-line forms, we will use your personal information to deal with your request. This may mean we need to pass your details on to third party service providers who are contracted to Exeter City Council in the course of dealing with your request. These third parties are obliged to keep your details securely, use them only to fulfil the request and will dispose of the details when the request is complete.
We will not pass your details to anyone else or use them for marketing purposes unless we have already told you we will at the point of collection.
Subject Access Requests
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you can make a formal request for the following information:
- clarification that your personal data are being processed by the Council
- a description and copies of such personal data
- the reasons why such data are being processed
- details of to whom they are or may be disclosed
