Archaeologists lying in soldiers’ barracks at Bartholomew Street

Our diggers lie in the sleeping quarters of a conturburnium which would have accommodated 8 legionary soldiers. They show that it would hardly have been possible for 8 soldiers to sleep in such a space and it seems likely that they had bunk beds. Not all the conturburnium would have slept at one time since the members would have followed different rotas.
