A Heavitree cooper
Back to Time Period
Until replaced by metal barrels in recent decades, the cooper was an important part of the brewery. Here we see the cooper at work at the Heavitree brewery, the last to close in Exeter in 1970. Barrels were made by hand in this workshop.
