Proposal for university college c1909

By the beginning of the 20th century the Victorian provision for student education in Exeter based on the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, appeared increasingly inadequate and a new initiative was taken to provide a university college behind the museum.

This line drawing, taken from The Builder shows the proposed new Edwardian building. Built of brick and Portland stone with high rooms and characteristic Edwardian gables.
