Armour for the arms

Back to Time Period
Armour for the arms

The use of armour on the shoulders (pauldrons) and arms (vanbraces) was restricted to soldiers on horseback (cavalrymen) only. It provided extra protection against swords but was too heavy for the foot soldier to wear.
