Late Roman farmyard

Late Roman farmyard

The view shows the excavation of fourth-century deposits at Trichay Street in 1972-3. The plot lies beside a large stone town house. At this time it appears to have served as a farmyard, with a corn-drier (supported on the stone stacks visible in the image) and other features cut into farmyard mud.
