The staircase ceiling at Belair
Back to Time Period![The staircase ceiling at Belair](/includes/thumb/phpThumb.php?src=/images/objects/Golden-Age-Staircase-Ceiling-Belair-Exeter.jpg&w=500)
The ceiling shows the rather more delicate fashion in plasterwork which became popular after 1700. The motifs at the centre of each end are trophies - guns, drums, suits of armour, etc - perhaps reflecting the triumphs of Queen Anne's armies in Europe.
