The staircase ceiling at Belair

Back to Time Period
The staircase ceiling at Belair

The ceiling shows the rather more delicate fashion in plasterwork which became popular after 1700. The motifs at the centre of each end are trophies - guns, drums, suits of armour, etc - perhaps reflecting the triumphs of Queen Anne's armies in Europe.
