A series of delftware tiles

This series of delftware tiles is said to have come from an Exeter house but their precise origin has not been recorded. The tiles were made in the Netherlands around 1700 and were imported into Devon. The background of each tile is tinged with blue and has then been painted with a white tin-glazed floral border and a central animal including a donkey, sheep, and dog.

Such tiles would have surrounded a fireplace.
