Reconstruction of the defences at East Gate

The drawing by Piran Bishop shows the form of the defences at East Gate in the last stages of the Civil War. The newly-erected earth bank and outer ditch provide an outer line of defence to the city, cutting across the old lines of Sidwell Street and Paris Street.
