The Exe below Trew’s Weir

The view by Thomas Allom and Alexander Carse shows the river around 1830. Sailing ships are coming up the Exeter Canal to the left; Colleton Crescent is prominent at the centre of the view, with the cathedral in the distance to its right. Trew's Weir, built in Elizabeth's reign to dam the Exe and feed water into the Exeter Canal, is at the centre of the view.
