Examples of ’Honiton’ lace

Encouraged by the patronage of the Queen, the wearing of lace was popular in mid and late Victorian England. 'Honiton' lace, made largely in the small villages of south-east Devon, was especially esteemed.

At No. 5 Cathedral Close, Exeter, Mrs Treadwine ran one of the leading shops selling fine Honiton lace. These are examples of the kind of work in which she dealt.
