An early Roman coin from Topsham Road (reverse)
Back to Time PeriodThis Roman coin was found in the garden of 482 Topsham Road. It is so heavily corroded that it is hardly possible to identify it, but its size and thickness are typical of the copper ases of the late first century. The reverse, seen here, shows a standing figure.
It indicates some form of early Roman activity here, beside the Roman road from Exeter to Topsham.
