Coins of Trajan

Back to Time Period
Coins of Trajan

These two coins of the emperor Trajan (AD 97-117) were found in 1955 at the 'higher end of Hill Barton Road near the railway bridge on the Exmouth line'. Both are ases of bronze, the lowest denomination of coin at this period. Each shows on the obverse side a bust of the Emperor with his imperial titles; the reverse of one depicts the god Mars nude, walking to the right.
