The Mount Howe Mycenean axe

The Mount Howe Mycenean axe

This copper 'double axe' is of a type produced in Cyprus c.1100 BC but was found at Mount Howe, Topsham. There has been much discussion, now incapable of resolution, about whether this is truly a Bronze Age import or was brought back to Devon in modern times. The image shows a replica; the original is in the British Museum.
